International Control Dam

The International Control Dam (ICD) is located on the Niagara River in the City of Niagara Falls. Completed in 1954, this weir controls the diversion of water from the Niagara River and dispatches it between Ontario Power Generation and the New York Power Authority. Water is diverted in accordance with the Niagara Treaty which was established in 1950 and is monitored by the International Niagara Board of Control.
