Sir Adam Beck No. 2 Generating Station

Sir Adam Beck II Generating Station is located on the Niagara River in Niagara Falls and began operating in 1954. The station has 16 units with a maximum generating capacity of 1,499 MW. Along with the 10-unit Sir Adam Beck I Generating Station, this station diverts water from the Niagara and Welland Rivers, above Niagara Falls, which is then released into the lower portion of the Niagara River.

International Control Dam

The International Control Dam (ICD) is located on the Niagara River in the City of Niagara Falls. Completed in 1954, this weir controls the diversion of water from the Niagara River and dispatches it between Ontario Power Generation and the New York Power Authority. Water is diverted in accordance with the Niagara Treaty which was established in 1950 and is monitored by the International Niagara Board of Control.

Along with the 16-unit Sir Adam Beck II Generating Station, Sir Adam Beck I Generating Station diverts water from the Niagara and Welland Rivers, above Niagara Falls, which is then released into the lower portion of the Niagara River.
